The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio on Thursday, October 16, 2025, attended the 60th birthday celebration of the Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman in Abuja.
Senator Akpabio congratulated Prof Sulaiman for attaining 60 years and unveiling two books: “Destiny, Character and Leadership” and “Transformative Leadership in Preactice.”
He described Prof Sulaiman as a “quintessential scholar” and said the National Assembly was very proud of the work he is doing at NILDS as the Director General and his contribution to scholarship in Nigeria.
He also commended the DG for the infrastructural and academic development at NILDS and said when he assumed office as the President of the Senate he was excited to work with Prof Sulaiman.
The DG thanked Senator Akpabio and said he was greatly honoured by the presence of the President of the Senate and said NILDS would continue to uphold the high standard for which it is known.
He said the two books were his contribution to scholarship and thanked Senator Akpabio for his support for the growth of the Institition as the Chairman of the governing council of the Institute.
