The 2025 Budget and Possible Higher Inflation

The National Assembly has made revisions to the 2025 budget bill, which was initially passed last week, in order to address some errors related to capital and recurrent expenditure.

According to HallowMace, both the Senate and the House of Representatives approved the bill on Thursday, February 13.

While the overall budget size remains unchanged at 54.9 trillion naira, the capital expenditure was reduced by over 500 billion naira, and the same amount was added to the recurrent expenditure.

As reported, the revised budget now sets the recurrent expenditure at 13.588 trillion naira, while capital expenditure stands at 23.439 trillion naira.

The budget has sparked a range of opinions, with some critics suggesting that it could contribute to higher inflation.
